The Love Story of Blake and Jami

The Love Story – The Wedding Proposal – She Said Yes! Here is The Story of Blake and Jami… The story in Blake’s words:

This is a story of serendipity and wonder. A tale of unprecedented coincidence and attraction. I wouldn’t believe it either, but it happened and continues to happen to me everyday.

I had just wrapped up the end of a relationship in November, and wasn’t looking for anything other than projects to focus my attention and get my life back in an order I could handle. I enrolled in an online video marketing course with the intention of world domination – as most of us do when we enroll in programs that offer us the ability to reach and influence new audiences. I’m a BIG dreamer, clearly. Two weeks into this program, a name, a face, a very small avatar kept showing up and for some reason I couldn’t look away. There’s something about her. Why? Who was she? Jami Bryant.

We opened a strictly professional dialogue that remained completely professional for all of 48 hours. Then, we told stories of past lives, opportunities lost, lessons learned, dreams and hopes for the future, and beer. I liked her. She felt good in my heart, even though we were a thousand miles apart and I barely knew her.
I found myself smiling thinking about talking to her…and smiling WHEN talking to her. I told her that as forward as it may sound, I would like to go out with her. Not thinking anything of it -because we’re 1000 miles apart- I let it ride. The feelings, however, had other plans.

We began to talk about real things – real dreams, real history, real worries and wonders and wants. Suddenly I was enchanted by this woman. We saw the world the same. We wanted the same ridiculous things. We dreamt of the same experiences and travels. We were finishing each other’s sentences.

I was beginning to really care about her. We took it to second base (in internet dating, that’s video chat). We talked about our day at work, what we had planned for the coming days, and what we wished we could do if we didn’t have to work. This time, however, we could SEE each other. It was like having dinner across from someone nearly every night for two hours. Talking, laughing, sharing… I was falling in like. No question.

I keep a Dream Box next to my bed. Every night I write what I’m thankful for on a little sheet of paper, and on the other side I write what I want for the future. I fold it up and place it in the box every night. Most of my notes are about people and work, and attracting prosperity. But….
One night BEFORE I met Jami, I wrote a completely different note. I described at length the relationship I wanted. I described the feelings, the love, the laughing, the driven spirit of this future person. I described her character and what it will feel like with her.

I thought nothing of it, folded it and put it in the box.
Fast forward to the middle of December, I can’t get that little note out of my head. How fortuitous that this brilliant, beautiful, talented, loving, goofy woman with a smile that melts hearts has somehow become the object of my affection… and me hers. Really, what are the chances?

Our first plan was for me to get on a plane and visit her at the end of January, but by her own admission, there was no way she was going to be able to handle that. Instead she booked a flight to see me for NYE. It was very, very brave of her. “Wow, I can’t believe I’m doing this…” she said. She booked that flight to Chicago and we counted down the days until she arrived, talking every day and growing closer. My mind started wandering off into completely unfamiliar territory – where possibilities and emotions danced a step few of us are lucky learn. With my heart at the wheel, I picked up the rhythm as if it was my own, and away I danced in wonder.
When she arrived, I met her at baggage claim with a peppermint mocha (she loves peppermint), and all we could say to each other in that crowded airport was, “hi.” Then we stood in silence for 5 minutes and hugged.

Over the next few days we had our first real date. Our first real kiss. Our first morning together. Our first kiss across treadmills (yep, we like to run).
After our first and only lunch with my family, she felt so comfortable with everyone… and they loved her in return. They accepted her and loved her and took her in. Every time she looked over at me, she noticed how awestruck I was – just bathing in the wonder of all the beauty and awesomeness going on right at the time.
We’re going to open up my dream box and read that silly little note to the Universe one day, and see just how spot-on and accurate that “silly” note really was.
We haven’t missed a day together since the end of November, and I can say with complete, unwavering conviction, I fell in love with her. I AM in love with her. Unlike anything I’ve ever felt. Some may say it’s crazy. I don’t mind. I wouldn’t trade a moment of this crazy love for a lifetime of safe, predictable, standard love.
So I invite you all (assuming millions of people are reading this–I’m a BIG dreamer, remember?) to follow us. Check back from time to time and see what we create together and share with the world. If nothing else, it will be a great story.
? Blake
